Narrated Ibn 'Omar: Allah's (SWT) Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):

    Kalimah
    1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.

    Salaat
    2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.

    Roza
    3. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.

    Zakat
    4. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity).

    Hajj
    5. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)

    Shahaadah

Learning The Fundamentals of Islam Kalima10

    La ilaha illallah Mohammad Rasulallah:

"There is no god but Allah, Mohammad(salallalahu alayhi wasallam) is the Messenger of Allah"

O Muslim brothers & sisters, it is compulsory for you to know what is the Tawheed that Allah (swt) ordered upon you- with its conditions & pillars. You must also know the things which nullify it, so that you can be aware and act accordingly to keep your Tawheed for Allah(swt) alone.

So the highest level of Iman is the Shahaada of ‘La ilaha illallah’ - i.e. everyone should bear witness that all forms of worship are for Allah (swt) Alone, not to a prophet nor an angel nor a leader…this is Allah’s right from all his slaves.

    Allah(swt) also says:

"...except those who bear witness to the truth and they know" Surah Az-Zukhruf Ayah 86.

That is to say they should know in their hearts what they gave witness to with their tongues.

The Prophet of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: "Whoever dies with the knowledge that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah shall enter Jannah." [Muslim]

Aur apna yaqeen banana ke Allah ke huqum ke siwa koi apni marzi se kuch bhi nahi kar sakta.

Allah SWT asbab ke hote hua kaam ko bigad sakte hai aur asbab ke na hone par kaam ko bana sakte hai. Everything is in his hands.

    Salaat (Namaz)

Each Salat must be offered at or during its proper time. No Salat can be offered before its time. There are five obligatory Salat in a day.

    Fajr

The time for the Fajr or the morning prayer starts at dawn and ends at sunrise.

Fajr prayer: 2 Rakaat Sunnat Muakkadah, 2 Rakaat Fard

    Zuhar

The time for Thuhr or the early afternoon prayer starts when the sun begins to decline from its zenith an and ends when the size of an object's shadow is equal to the size of the object.

Thuhr prayer: 4 Rakaat Sunnat Muakkadah , 4 Rakaat Fard, 2 Rakaat Sunnat Muakkadah and 2 Rakaat Nafl.

    Asr

The time for Asr or late afternoon prayer starts when the shadow of something is equal to itself and ends just before sunset.

It is better to offer Asr prayer before the sun becomes yellow because even though it is allowed to offer the Salat (prayer) at this time the Prophet (pbuh) disliked Muslims to delay Asr prayer up to this time. He remarked that the Munafiq (hypocrite) offered his Salat (prayer) at this time.

Asr Prayer:4 Rakaat Sunnat Ghair Muakkaadah , 4 Rakaat Fard.

    Maghrib

The time for the Maghrib or the sunset prayer starts just after sunset and ends when twilight has disappeared.

Maghrib prayer.: 3 Rakat Fard, 2 Rakat Sunnat Muakkadah

    , 2 Rakat Nafl
    Isha
The time for Isha or night prayer starts from the disappearance of twilight and ends just before midnight.

It is preferable to offer this Salat (prayer) before midnight but it can be offered right up to the break of dawn.

Isha prayes: 4 Rakat Sunnat, 4 Rakat Fard, 2 Rakat Sunnat Muakkadah, 2 Rakat Nafl, 3 Rakat Witr, 2 Rakat Nafl.

    Fasting (Roza)

Linguistically speaking, fasting means to abstain from doing something. However, when the notion of fasting is used in Islamic Shari’a, it refers to abstaining from all the things that nullify fasting from the break of dawn (Fajr) till sunset (Maghreb), coupled with the intention of doing so as an act of worship. Fasting the month of Ramadan is obligatory (Fard) according to the Qur’an, Sunnah, and consensus of the scholars on every Muslim who has reached the age of puberty, is sane, and is able to fast without it acting as a threat to his/her health due to illness.

    Zakaah (Zakaat)

Zakaah is one of the pillars of Islaam. Allah says:
They were enjoined only to worship Allah,... and to establish the Salaat and the Zakaah, Such is the upright religion.' [98:5]

'Let not those who are miserly with what Allah has given them of His bounty think that this is good for them. Rather, it is bad for them. That which they withhold shall be hung around their necks on the Day of Arising.' [3:180]

The prophet (saw) said, "Whoever is given wealth by Allah and does not pat the Zakaah due upon it shall find that on the Day of Arising it is made to appear to him as a hairless snake with two black specks, which chains him, and then seizes him by his jaw and says, 'I am your wealth! I am your treasure!"

Let us make sure that we pay the Zakaah and fulfill all of the other pillars of Islam correctly and sincerely for Allah's sake, so that our Islaam as a whole will be strong and Allah will be pleased with us.

Learning The Fundamentals of Islam Empty TAWHEED ...

Post  HAQ Sun Dec 13, 2009 5:09 am

The meaning of Tawheed and its categories

What is the meaning of Tawheed and what are its categories?.

    Praise be to Allaah.
Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger and Chosen Prophet.
Tawheed in Arabic means attributing Oneness to Allaah and describing Him as being One and Unique, with no partner or peer in His Essence and Attributes.
The Arabs say waahid, ahad and waheed, all meaning one. Allaah is Waahid, meaning that He has no rivals or peers in any way. So Tawheed means knowing Allaah is One, with none like unto Him. Whoever does not acknowledge Allaah in these terms and does not describe Him as being One with no partner or associate does not believe in Tawheed.
With regard to the shar’i definition of Tawheed, it means believing in Allaah alone as God and Lord and attributing to Him alone all the attributes of Lordship and divinity.
It may be defined as follows: Believing that Allaah is One with no partner or associate in His Lordship (ruboobiyyah), divinity (uloohiyyah) or names and attributes (al-asma’ wa’l-sifaat).
This word (Tawheed) and its derivatives are used with this meaning in the Qur’aan and Sunnah. For example:
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Say (O Muhammad): He is Allaah, (the) One [Ahad].
    2. Allaah‑us‑Samad [Allaah — the Self‑Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)].
    3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
    4. And there is none co‑equal or comparable unto Him”
    [al-Ikhlaas 112:1-3]
“And your Ilaah (God) is One Ilaah [ilaahun waahidun] (God — Allaah), Laa Ilaaha illa Huwa (there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He), the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”
    [al-Baqarah 2:163]
“Surely, disbelievers are those who said: ‘Allaah is the third of the three (in a Trinity).’ But there is no Ilaah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilaah [ilaahun waahidun] (God —Allaah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them”
    [al-Maa'idah 5:73]
And there are many similar verses.
In Saheeh al-Bukhaari (7372) and Saheeh Muslim (19) it is narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent Mu’aadh ibn Jabal to Yemen, he said to him: “You are going to people from among the People of the Book, so let the first thing to which you call them be belief in Allaah alone (Tawheed). If they accept that, then tell them that Allaah has enjoined on them five prayers every day and night. If they pray then tell them that Allaah has enjoined on them zakaah from their wealth to be taken from their rich and given to their poor. If they agree to that then take it from them but avoid the best of people’s wealth.”
In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Islam is built on five (pillars): belief that Allaah is One, establishing regular prayer, paying zakaah, fasting Ramadaan and Hajj.”
What is meant by Tawheed in all these texts is affirming the meaning of the testimony that there is no god but Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, which is the essence of the religion of Islam with which Allaah sent His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), based on the evidence of the words of the Qur’aan and Sunnah. In some versions of the hadeeth of Mu’aadh quoted above it says: “You will come to some people from among the People of the Book so when you come to them, call them to bear witness that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1492.
According to another version of the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Islam is based on five (pillars): the testimony that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger...” Narrated by Muslim, 16.
This indicates that Tawheed is the essence of the testimony that there is no god except Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, and that this is Islam with which Allaah sent His Prophet to the two races of mankind and the jinn, other than which Allaah will not accept any religion from anyone.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Truly, the religion with Allaah is Islam”
    [Aal ‘Imraan 3:19]
“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers”
    [Aal ‘Imraan 3:85]
Once this is understood, it should be noted that the scholars have divided Tawheed into three categories, as follows:
Tawheed al-Ruboobiyyah (Oneness of Divine Lordship), Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah (Oneness of Divinity) and Tawheed al-Asma’ wa’l-Sifaat (Oneness of the Divine Names and Attributes).
Tawheed al-Ruboobiyyah (Oneness of Divine Lordship): means believing in Allaah as One and Unique with regard to His actions such as creation, sovereignty, control, giving life and death, and so on.
There is a great deal of evidence to support this in the Qur’aan and Sunnah. Whoever believes that there is any creator other than Allaah or any sovereign controlling this universe and disposing of its affairs other than Allaah has denied this aspect of Tawheed and disbelieved in Allaah.
The kuffaar of old accepted this aspect of Tawheed in general terms, although they differed with regard to some of its details. The evidence that they used to accept this is to be found in several verses of the Qur’aan such as the following (interpretation of the meaning):
“And if you were to ask them: ‘Who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?’ they will surely reply: ‘Allaah.’ How then are they deviating (as polytheists and disbelievers)?”
    [al-‘Ankaboot 29:61]
“And if you were to ask them: ‘Who sends down water (rain) from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death?’ they will surely reply: ‘Allaah.’ Say: ‘All the praises and thanks be to Allaah!’ Nay, most of them have no sense”
    [al-‘Ankaboot 29:63]
“And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: ‘Allaah.’ How then are they turned away (from the worship of Allaah Who created them)?”
    [al-Zukhruf 43:87]
In these verses Allaah states that the kuffaar affirm that He is the Creator, Sovereign and Controller, but despite that they do not worship Him alone (Tawheed of worship), which points to the graveness of their wrongdoing and lies, and the weakness of their reasoning. For if there is One Who is described in such terms, none should be worshipped except Him alone and none should be described as being one and unique except Him; may He be glorified above those that they associate with him.
So whoever affirms this Tawheed in the true sense must inevitably also affirm the Oneness of Allaah’s Divinity (Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah).
Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah means devoting all acts of worship, both inward and outward, in word and deed, to Allaah Alone, and not worshipping anything or anyone other than Allaah, no matter who he is. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him”
    [al-Isra’ 17:23]
“Worship Allaah and join none with Him (in worship)”
    [al-Nisa’ 4:36]
It may be described as devoting all one’s actions to Allaah alone.
It is called Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah because it is based on ta’alluh lillaah which is worship and devotion of Allaah accompanied by love and veneration.
It is also called Tawheed al-‘Ibaadah (oneness of worship) because it means that a person worships Allaah by doing that which He has commanded and avoiding that which He has forbidden.
It is also called Tawheed al-Talab wa’l-Qasd wa’l-Iraadah (Oneness of goal, purpose and will) because it means that a person does not seek anything except the Face of Allaah, so he worships Him sincerely.
This is the kind of Tawheed concerning which people went astray, which is why the Prophets were sent and the Books were revealed. This is the purpose for which the universe was created and laws were prescribed. Concerning this disputes arose between the Prophets and their peoples, so the stubborn were doomed and the believers were saved.
Whoever goes astray with regard to this Tawheed, such as devoting some of his worship to someone other than Allaah, has gone beyond the pale of Islam and drifted away from true belief. May Allaah protect us from that.
With regard to Tawheed al-Asma’ wa’l-Sifaat (Oneness of the Divine Names and Attributes), this means affirming the names and attributes of Allaah and believing that there is none like unto Allaah in His names and attributes. This Tawheed is based on two principles:
1 – Affirmation: i.e., affirming that which Allaah has affirmed for Himself in His Book or that His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has affirmed of His beautiful names and sublime attributes in a manner that suits the Majesty and Greatness of Allaah, without distorting them, twisting their meanings, denying their reality or discussing how they are.
2 – Denial: i.e., denying that Allaah has any faults and denying any shortcomings that He has denied Himself. The evidence for that is the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):
“There is nothing like Him, and He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Seer”
    [al-Shoora 42:11]
So He has denied that He bears any resemblance to His creation, and affirmed that He has attributes of perfection in a manner that befits Him, may He be glorified

Learning The Fundamentals of Islam Empty KALIMAH ....

Post  HAQ Sun Dec 13, 2009 5:20 am

The words that are spoken when one becomes a Muslim, are few but so significant. With the utterance of these words, a person acknowledges Allah as the Creator and Sustainer of all, and the messengership of His Prophet (peace be upon him). With these words, which come from the heart, a person steps from disbelief and ignorance to knowledge, light and guidence. A person can only reach this state by the Mercy and Guidance of Allah the Almighty.

Learning The Fundamentals of Islam Shahad10

    "The Shahada"

There is no god worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His Prophet. These are the words that a person says to enter the fold of Islam. The Shahadah, or declaration of faith, is a covenant that the person makes with Allah: that he/she will continue to obey Allah, and walk in the footsteps of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). It is the first step to complete obedience to the Lord of all.

Learning The Fundamentals of Islam Empty Origin of Religion

Post  HAQ Fri Dec 25, 2009 5:02 am

    Dear Forum Readers:

I would like to bring to you the origin of Religion, enabling you to understand the differences, indifferences, and most importantly, the facts!

Origin of Religion - Ancient Foundations

The origin of religion can generally be traced to the ancient Near East and classified in three basic categories: polytheistic, pantheistic and monotheistic. Atheism is really a modern belief that resulted from the "Enlightenment" period of the 18th century.

    Origin of Religion - Polytheism

The origin of religion and polytheistic systems: Polytheism (a belief in many gods) is thought to have originated with Hinduism in about 2500 BC. Hindu beliefs were recorded in the Bhagavad Gita, which revealed that many gods were subject to a supreme Brahman god. Polytheism was also the religion of many other ancient cultures, including Assyria, Babylonia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. The ancient polytheistic belief systems viewed gods as being in control of all natural events such as rainfall, harvests and fertility. Generally, polytheistic cultures believed in sacrifices to appease their gods. For instance, the Canaanites sacrificed to the male god, Baal, and his female counterpart, Ashteroth. Baal controlled the rain and the harvest, while Ashteroth controlled fertility and reproduction. The Greeks and Romans developed polytheism to a highly structured pantheon of gods and goddesses.

    Origin of Religion - Pantheism

The origin of religions and pantheistic systems: Pantheism (a belief that all is God) prevailed in numerous ancient cultures. The belief that the universe itself was divine was typified in the Animism beliefs of the African and American Indian cultures, the later Egyptian religion under the Pharoahs, and Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism in the cultures of the Far East. Pantheistic beliefs are also finding resurgence among various New Age movements. Generally, pantheism is the principle that god is everything, and everything is god. Therefore, nature is also part of god. We must be in harmony with nature. We must nurture it and be nurtured by it. Mankind is no different than any other animal. We must live in harmony with them, understand them, and learn from them, focusing on the relationship between mankind and the elements of nature.

    Origin of Religion - Monotheism

The origin of religion and monotheistic systems: Monotheism (a belief in one God) is the foundation of the Judeo-christian-muslim line of religions, which began with Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in about 2000 BC. From this point in history, God began revealing Himself to the world through the nation of Israel. The Jewish Scriptures record the journey of the Israelites from slaves in Egypt to the "promised land" in Canaan under the leadership of Prophet Musa (AS). During a period of about 1500 years, God revealed what became the Old Testament of the Bible, relating the history of Israel with the character and laws of God. During the period of the Roman Empire, Prophet Issa (AS) was born in Bethlehem as the long-awaited Messiah. As per Christians, the ministry of Jesus ended in about 32 AD with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ - Prophet Issa (AS). After Prophet Issa (AS) ascension into heaven, the Christian church grew in His name and the New Testament was written. About 600 years later, Prophet Muhammad (SM/PBUH) began preaching in Mecca. Prophet Muhammad (SM/PBUH) believed he was the ultimate prophet of God, and his teachings became the precepts of Islam as recorded in the Qur'an.

Origin of Religion - Important Dates in History:

    c. 2000 BC: Time of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), the patriarch of Israel.
    c. 1200 BC: Time of Prophet Musa (AS).
    c. 1100 - 500 BC: Hindus compile their holy texts, the Vedas.
    c. 563 - 483 BC: Time of Buddha, founder of Buddhism.
    c. 551 - 479 BC: Time of Confucius, founder of Confucianism.
    c. 200 BC: The Hindu book, Bhagavad Gita, is written.
    c. 2 to 4 BC - 32 AD: Time of Prophet Issa (AS), the Messiah.
    c. 32 AD: The Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ - Prophet Issa (AS).
    c. 40 - 90 AD: The New Testament is written by the followers of Jesus Christ - Prophet Issa (AS).
    c. 570 - 632 AD: Time of Prophet Muhammad (SM/PBUH), who records the Qur'an as the basis of Islam.
